Hereford to Hoarwithy

Hereford to Hoarwithy is a cracking full day river trip. There is a great camp site next to the river which allows BBQ’s and has an excellent pub a couple of meters away. It’s a good idea to set of early as this section can take a good eight hours plus if the rivers low.

 

If your planning to canoe for a full day or more then this is a must section of the river Wye!

Hereford

Hereford is an historic city lying in the heart of the Wye Valley in the west of England. Hereford also has a magnificent cathedral which houses the Mappa Mundi, a medieval map of the world dating from the 13th century. The renowned Chained Library, containing over 1,400 volumes is another local treasure.

 

Today Hereford is a busy market town, the city is a pleasant blend of old and new with modern shopping blending harmoniously with historic buildings.

Hoarwithy

The picturesque village of Hoarwithy is known for it's magnificant church. The church of St Catherine is recognised by architectural historians for it's Romanesque design, completely unlike any other in Herefordshire.The rest of the village is an beautiful example of an English village. It is home to a three-storey toll house and an iron bridge and quintessential black and white houses.
